The Honda Shadow 1100 is one of the most reliable cruisers in the history of V-Twin motorcycles. This was from the era that gave Honda the reputation as being the most bulletproof maintenance free and overbuilt and underpriced motorcycle in history. These bikes had excellent build quality and a great ride and power delivery that was far better than their original price tag should have suggested. These bikes were much more advanced in technology and build quality than their American rivals which is why such heavy import tariffs were imposed when the model was introduced in the 80's to give Harley a fighting chance against the superior build quality of the Japanese at the time. This particular Shadow 1100 is the Sabre variant which was the more muscle cruiser oriented flavor having a fat front tire, solid cast aluminum wheels, a big hulking tank with sporty graphics and paint scheme. The drivetrain was the same shared throughout the 1100 shadow cruiser lineup being a liquid cooled narrow angle V-twin with enough power to keep it interesting especially on twisty backroads and more than enough torque for highway passing above any legal speed limit. The motor is good for 100k miles with nothing more than oil changes and many owners report going 250k plus with minor maintenance such as clutches. This is a great step up from a beginner bike and is the perfect all around size to do it all, 2 up touring, backroad blasts, mountain road carving, or bike week cruising and at a price that wont break the bank.
