This generation of R - RT is one of the most popular sport touring bikes ever sold in the world which has been used in countless countries all over every continent as military and police bikes, rental bikes, courier service bikes, and probably one of the most privately widely used sport touring mounts of all time. There is a very good reason for this as the bike has a motor that has proven over decades to be an indestructible power house churning out useable torque right off idle that is great for lugging through city traffic but with 6 gears and excellent final drive ratio in the paralever single sided swingarm it is just as capable of cruising any highway at autobahn speeds pushing 140mph which for a bike this big is impressive. The chassis is excellent and second to none with BMW's signature paralever at the rear and telelever at the front with electronically adjustable suspension dampening this makes this bike an absolute pleasure to ride now matter how rough the road gets. (which on Pennsylvania roads is necessary) The bike's 1200cc boxer engine in this generation is still air / oil cooled and is the ultimate design when it comes to the boxer lineage of R bikes dating back to the original R100RT of the late 70's. This incarnation has 110hp and 85ft lbs of torque and many revisions were made over the years to shave weight and add reliability making this the last of the great air/oil cooled boxer motors found up until the discontinuation of the R1200RT in 2013 when BMW shifted to water cooling. The factory heated seats, heated grips, cruise control, electronically adjustable windshield all still work excellently, and the factory luggage is very spacious and all of the locks and latches are in good shape as well!
